Easy Bang Bang Salmon Bowls.
Bang bang salmon bowls are super simple and delicious! Tender juicy salmon with a creamy sauce, served over rice and veggies. Satisfying and incredibly easy to make!
New favorite meal alert!

This bang bang salmon is so tender and juicy, served over jasmine rice with carrot and cucumbers and a creamy, spicy sauce. It’s incredibly satisfying and tastes amazing!
I can’t even explain how often we eat this meal. I make this ALL THE TIME.
It checks all the right boxes:
It’s easy and takes under 30 minutes.
I always have all the ingredients on hand!
The entire family loves it.
And the leftovers are just as delish.
So, not only is it a fantastic weeknight meal, it works great as leftovers. Or even as a meal to prep for lunches during the week!
Luckily, I don’t have to fight my kids too much when it comes to salmon. They enjoy it. But I find that one of the keys to making it irresistible is to cut it into these chunks before searing it in a cast iron skillet.
This allows all the sides to get crispy and browned. The spices add so much flavor and it’s the perfect juicy bite. Buttery, flakey and bite-sized. Just right!
The star of the show though? Obviously…
The sauce!
Everyone loves bang bang sauce. This creamy sauce with a little heat is so darn good for dipping and drizzling, whether it’s fish or chicken or vegetables. And a little bit goes a long way. The tiniest drizzle transforms a dish so much and really elevates it. In other words, it makes it feel extra special.
I have a recipe for bang bang salmon burgers in Everyday Dinners and it’s a combo that we adore. I think it’s even the recipe that really changed Eddie’s mind about salmon; he wasn’t a fan for quite a while.
Now, these bowls are requested all the time. I love having them for lunch because of how quick and satisfying they are. I’ll use white or brown jasmine rice, the cucumbers and carrots and even some red peppers.
Sometimes I’ll throw in broccoli instead or even brussels sprouts. While I love the combo of cold crunch veggies with the warm sauce and creamy sauce, any sort of vegetables work here. They can be leftovers or something you’d clean out of the fridge!
Perfect to add into your recipe box!
Bang Bang Salmon Bowls

Bang Bang Salmon Bowls
Ingredients
- 2 pounds salmon, cut into chunks
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- kosher salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sliced cucumbers, for serving
- 1 large carrot, finely grated, for serving
- jasmine rice, for serving
bang bang sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup sweet thai chili sauce
- 2 teaspoons sriracha
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
Instructions
- Cut the salmon into 1-inch chunks. Season all over with salt and pepper and the smoked paprika and garlic powder, making sure all sides are seasoned.
- Heat the olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the salmon pieces in a single layer (you may have to do this in a double batch so they all fit). Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until deeply golden brown. Flip each piece of salmon and cook on the other side until golden. At this point, the salmon should be done but you can check by cutting into a piece or two. Transfer the salmon to a large plate and repeat with the remaining salmon if needed.
- Cover the salmon all over with green onions, sprinkling a few more into the bang bang sauce.
- To assemble the bowls, spoon some rice on the bottom. Top with the cucumbers and carrots. Add the salmon. Drizzle the sauce all over the bowls. Serve!
bang bang sauce
- Whisk together the ingredients until creamy and smooth and combined. This stays great in the fridge for a few days.

Hi! we cannot tolerate spicy foods e.g. Sriracha. Can you recommend something else to replace it?
The recipe looks amazing and we look forward to trying it.
Thanks so much!
Lea, I made this and it’s delicious. It wasn’t very spicy at all. If you leave the Sriracha out of the sauce it will be mild.
Yummy!! Saved as soon as it saw it on the blog and it was perfect for a chilly night!
This was so easy and delicious and fresh tasting, my husband said it’s his favorite salmon recipe now!
Fantastic recipe! Whole family loves it. We have friends coming over who are vegetarian—I’d love to make a vegetarian version. Any suggestions for good substitutes?
Thank you!
I have made these twice in the last two weeks and we can’t get enough! Such a tasty and easy recipe!
This was so delicious! I cut corners but just seasoning and roasting the salmon whole, so will need to make it again as directed when I have a little more time. But the roasted salmon was awesome too!
This is so great! The salmon came out perfectly and I love the sauce. For leftovers, I kept it chilled, added avocado, and put some soy sauce on it for a sushi vibe!
